With Coby Potvin at the plate for UCA on a 3-1 count, the junior sent a deep RBI double to center field to get the Bears on the board. A fly out ended the top of the sixth and HBU would come back to bat up 8-2. The Huskies advance to face No. 8 New Orleans in the winner’s bracket tomorrow at 7 p.m. while Central Arkansas takes on No. 1 Sam Houston State in an elimination matchup at noon. The Huskies would answer and get on the board in the bottom of the first inning. With runners on first and third, Heck stepped up and singled to right field to bring Tyler Depreta-Johnson home and give HBU a 1-0 lead. The lead was pushed further after an error at third base sent Spencer Halloran to the plate, after which Grant Buck put up another RBI single to left field to send Heck home for a 4-0 lead. HBU inched closer to the run rule after sending two runs home in the bottom of the seventh to push the lead to 13-4 with one out, needing just a single run to end the game early. Thanks to a wild pitch that rebounded off toward the third base dugout, Jonathan Ducoff made his way home to seal the 14-4 seven-inning win.
