Legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal announced his retirement from his 19-year-long NBA career today in a rather unusual way. Shaq didn’t hold a fancy press conference, instead, he announced it via Twitter. His tweet was simple: “im retiring,” and adds a link to a video of himself stating as much.His video is less than 20 seconds long, but in it, Shaq says “we did it,” and “that’s why I’m telling you first.” He says he’s “about to retire,” and then tells us he loves us, which makes us a little sad to see Shaq go after almost two decades. Shaq, 39, is the oldest active player in the NBA.Shaq is no stranger to Twitter. In 2009, Shaq found out that he had been traded from the Suns to the Cavaliers through Twitter.
