Virat Kohli did say the iPL would have no bearing on team selection for the World Cup but the Indian team management will closely watch how Rahul goes over the next few weeks.KL Rahul had an outstanding stint with Kings XI Punjab in the IPL last year. From 14 matches, he scored 659 runs and not surprisingly, Rahul made it to the Indian side for the T20I series in Ireland and England. He made an unbeaten 101 in a T20I against England before making a Test match hundred against them at The Oval.Rahul was dropped after two failures in the Test series in Australia before he was suspended along with Hardik Pandya over his remarks in Koffee with Karan.This IPL, the stakes are high for KL Rahul.India are still trying to plug a few holes in the middle-order and KL Rahul is among the frontrunners to travel to England for the 2019 World Cup. He has often thrown starts away but in an exclusive interview with India Today, he claimed he is calmer and more matured.Rahul said World Cup selection was not in his hands but he will do everything to give himself the best possible chance.”I am going to be far more disciplined this IPL with the World Cup in mind,” Rahul told India Today. “Selection is not in my hands but I will do all to give myself the best chance.”advertisementKL Rahul and Chris Gayle are the X-factors for Kings XI Punjab and this is a role he has embraced.
