HUGE ENTRY FORCES NORTH WEST 10K ORGANISERS TO SEPARATE WALKERS AND RUNNERS

first_imgIn a new departure this year the walkers taking part in the North West Charity 10k will start separately from the runners. The move by organisers is aimed at improving safety, minimizing delays and reducing congestion at the start of the charity event on Sunday week, May 6th in Letterkenny. The change will see walkers start down at the bottom of the Car Park in front of the Community Centre adjacent to the running track. The runners as usual will have their starting line at McGinley Motors on the Pearse Road.It has been confirmed that the Mayor of Donegal Cllr Noel McBride will give the signal for the walkers to begin the 10k.Meanwhile, Chairperson Grace Boyle has asked all the participants to pre-enter in the days leading up to an event that is expected to attract in excess of 3,000 runners and walkers.“In order to avoid delays and reduce congestion on the day of the 10k I would really appeal to all the participants to pre-enter on the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. I would like to clear up some confusion out there that pre-entry is only for runners. That is definitely not the case as all walkers are also being asked to pre-enter where they will be able to pick up their t-shirts and numbers. Also the athletes will be able to get their chips for the race. We are also asking as many people as possible to come in fancy dress to make it a carnival occasion and there will be spot prizes for the best” the Chairperson said.Entries will be taken upstairs at Letterkenny Community Centre on next Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th of May from 6.00 to 7.30 p.m. Also on Saturday 5th May from 4.00 to 7.00 p.m. Visit the website www.northwest10k.com where you will get all the pre-booking details. The three main charities benefiting from this year’s North West 10k are the Buddy Bear Appeal; MS Ireland Donegal and the Donegal Down Syndrome Association. The walk and race takes place on Sunday week, May 6th in Letterkenny with a 2 p.m. sharp start.  HUGE ENTRY FORCES NORTH WEST 10K ORGANISERS TO SEPARATE WALKERS AND RUNNERS was last modified: April 27th, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:CLLR NOEL MCBRIDENorth West 10krunnerswalkerslast_img
