The first half progressed on a point for point basis with the score ending all square at the half time whistle at 5 points apiece. Shaun McGarvey contributing 4 points to Cloughaneely’s first half tally, with John Fitzgerald clinching their 5th. Christy Keaney and Tommy Hourihan were the sharp shooters for the visitors in the opening half. The 2nd half proved to be a much different affair with Bundoran making their intention clear from throw-in; which saw the ball find its way to star player Jamie Brennan who expertly put away Bundoran’s first goal of the game. Bundoran drove forward from that point and, thanks the duo of Keaney and Hourihan, rattled over an additional 5 points without response. Despite some great defensive work from Cloughaneely’s Ciaran McGeady and some great runs from substitute Ciaran McFadden, Cloughaneely failed to have their 2nd half efforts registered on the scoreboard until the 49th minute thanks to a Darren McGeever free; which was quickly followed up by a point from Eugene McGuire. In the 22nd minute a Cloughaneely ball found its way into the goal mouth and, amidst a flurry of black and amber jerseys, Cloughaneely’s Paul Sweeney managed to get a touch to the ball to guide it into the net to register a much needed goal for Cloughaneely. Darren Ferry hit the home-sides final point of the game in the 25th minute. Bundoran’s 2nd half scoring frenzy had not yet come to an end and the final 5 minutes saw Jamie Brennan contribute an additional goal after another great run as well as adding a 2nd point to his tally.
