BRILLIANT BONAGEE WEEKEND RAISES €7,000 FOR PIETA HOUSE

first_imgThe Bonagee Fun Weekend committee present the cheque to Danny Devlin of Pieta House.A cheque for €7,000, the proceeds from the brilliant Bonagee June Bank Holiday charity fun weekend, has been handed over to Pieta House this week.Acknowledging all those who had contributed in any way to the event and the fund-raising, Action for Hope representative, Danny Devlin, told the presentation ceremony that he was confident Pieta House, which provides specialised treatment for people who have suicidal thoughts and for those who self-harm, would have a facility in place in Donegal by 2017.The Bonagee weekend fund and awareness raiser included a night at the races, five-a-side football, a classic car run, a barbeque, and a bucket collection with all of the proceeds directed to the charity concerned. The committee behind it thanked main sponsors, the Dry Arch complex, along with Bonagee United F.C., and Logue’s of Cranford who sponsored the classic car run.Denise McElhinney committee member said “We want to thank all the people who supported the event in any way. We had a great turnout and we are very proud to hand over this cheque for €7,000 to such a worthy cause as Pieta House,“A huge thanks to all and to those businesses and individuals who provided sponsorship for the event.”In his address to the presentation function at the Dry Arch Inn, Danny Devlin echoed the thanks to all who had participated in any way either through sponsorship or contributions.He paid particular tribute to the organising committee for its efforts which were, he stated, very much appreciated. Apart from raising vital money for the organisation, the event had also helped raise awareness.
