SCHOOL PRINCIPAL CLOSES DOOR ON CLASSROOM AFTER CAREER SPANNING 40 YEARS

first_imgA Co Donegal school principal has closed the door on his classroom for the last time after a career spanning almost four decades.Principal of Glenswilly National School, Master Liam McGowan, said a sad farewell to pupils, parents and staff today.A native of Kinlough in Co Leitrim, Liam has worked tirelessly for the betterment of the school for almost 30 years. His first job in Donegal was teaching in Rathmullan before he moved to Glenswilly.Liam told Donegaldaily he is looking forward to his retirement but doesn’t plan to spend many days on the gold course.“I play one game of golf a year so my handicap isn’t great. Don’t worry, I’ll find plenty to do,” he said.Liam worked selflessly for the school over the years including many long days trying to get an extension for the school since 1992.
