As the fans like to say, we are everywhere. Really though, Starbucks is everywhere… which means the Grateful Dead are everywhere too, if only for today. The wildly successful coffee shop chain has announced that they will be playing Grateful Dead music in over 7,500 locations today, in honor of the new Day Of The Dead compilation disc, and of course in honor of the band themselves. The 60-song playlist will feature selections from the band’s original music and new covers, spanning nearly five hours worth of music.“The Grateful Dead are one of those rare artists who transcend time, generations and genres,” said Gina Woods, vice president of Starbucks Entertainment, in a statement. “We’ve been fans of the Grateful Dead for years and couldn’t miss this chance to reintroduce our customers to their music through this specially curated playlist. Playing it overhead in our stores gives customers a chance to hear familiar music in a new way.”Interestingly, Starbucks worked with the Dead in 1997 to make a two-CD compilation called Eternally Grateful. This brings the Grateful Dead-Starbucks connection full circle, so grab a cup of joe and jam out with the Dead!

Aston Villa are trying to lure Shay Given to the Midlands – and away from a possible move to Celtic. It is now clear that the Lifford keeper can leave Man City this summer. It’s just a matter of where he will end up, with Gerard Houllier wanting the 35-year-old to move to Villa. The Donegal man looks set to be one of the more high profile departures from Eastlands this summer.Roberto Mancini has told Given – with whom he has a good relationship – that he wants him to stay, but cannot guarantee him first team football. Now Villa has now emerged as a viable destination especially with Brad Friedel out of contract and set to join Tottenham.Championship side Leicester are also in the running, though that would be an unlikely destination for Given who would prefer to stay in the Premier League or go to Celtic. Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is said to want Given in his side next season. If Given does go to Villa he will link up again with fellow Irish international Richard Dunne.ASTON VILLA IN BID TO LURE SHAY AWAY FROM CELTIC was last modified: June 1st, 2011 by gregShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Aston VillaCelticdonegaldailyLeicester CityLiffordMan CityShay Given
