Six compelling reasons your credit union should build a digital referral program

first_img 6SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr Today’s marketer at a bank or credit union has a tough job. Competing priorities and objectives are typically the norm, with limited budget, resources, and time making growth a challenge. At the end of the day, the tasks garnering the bulk of attention are intended to improve the position of the organization to assist retention and ultimately drive growth. Acquiring customers remains an expensive and time-consuming process. For an average consumer, selecting a financial institution can be a difficult task. The evaluation process involves comparing products and services, examining rates offered, assessing branch reach and locations, as well as reviewing convenience tools like ATM locations and the availability of online and mobile banking solutions. And yet marketing messages from banks and credit unions are awash in a sea of similarity, giving an appearance that each organization offers essentially the same thing. How is a consumer to choose? This lack of differentiation is exactly where a modern referral marketing program can help.Almost every marketer at a bank or credit union has had some experience with a referral program. These executives would agree that a significant percentage of new customers originate from word of mouth referrals, making this lead generation channel the best for new customer acquisition. continue reading »last_img read more

U.S. Open wants 15-year-old Coco Gauff in main draw despite age restrictions, report says

first_img Wimbledon 2019: Roger Federer unfazed by prospect of Novak Djokovic taking his Grand Slam record Wimbledon 2019: Novak Djokovic relies on mental strength after ‘most demanding’ match of his career The Post notes that Gauff can only play 10 pro events from when she turns 15 until her 16th birthday under the age-eligibility bylaws. Gauff is still eligible to play 12 more pro tournaments before her birthday on March 13. She’s played seven pro tournaments since she turned 15, but received a merit bonus of two extra events. “She went from being not on the radar in women’s tennis to being their biggest star,” tennis historian and former USTA staffer Randy Walker said. “She’s box office. The Open fans are going to go cuckoo for Coco.”Gauff entered Wimbledon ranked No. 313 in the world and jumped up an impressive 172 spots. She’s now No. 141 after making it to the fourth round at the All England Club. A player can use a maximum of three wildcards when they are 15, but Gauff has already accepted her three as she attended the Miami Open, the French Open qualifiers and the Wimbledon qualifiers. “We would expect to see Coco in the main draw of the US Open,’’ USTA director of communications Chris Widmaier told The Post. “She certainly won the hearts of tennis fans in our country with her Wimbledon performance. It’s not every day an athlete of her age becomes water-cooler talk.‘’ Related News U.S. Open officials are doing everything they can to get Cori “Coco” Gauff into next month’s tournament. Officials are planning to give a wildcard to the 15-year-old sensation that caught everyone’s attention when she played at Wimbledon, according to the New York Post, which cited unidentified sources. The only problem is they have to work around the WTA’s age restrictions for 15 year olds.  Widmaier added that he believes the Open will be “exempt,” while an anonymous WTA spokesperson explained to the Post that they don’t believe the governing body will intervene.“The US Open, as a Grand Slam, reserves the right to not align with the Age Eligibility Rule and offer a player a Wild Card in excess of her limit per the Age Eligibility Rule,’’ WTA spokesperson said. Dinos in the News

first_img1Wang and Zhou, “Palaeontology: Pterosaur embryo from the Early Cretaceous,” Nature 429, 621 (10 June 2004); doi:10.1038/429621a.There is still much to learn about dinosaurs.  The discoverers each indicated that these territories, on different continents, all have potential for many more discoveries.  In each of these cases, the findings modified previous ideas.  Notice that none of these were transitional forms.  Each was a completely operational animal, fully adapted to its environment (undoubtedly they all had fully operational molecular trucks; see 06/14/2004 headline).  Notice also that none of the fossils were found with names or dates on them.  The bones are facts in the present, but always distinguish between the facts and interpretations about the unseen past.(Visited 13 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0 Three dinosaur finds were reported in the last month:Sauropod:  A new kind of sauropod was found in the Morrison Formation (Jurassic) in Montana, reported National Geographic News.  This kind of dinosaur was unexpected, and suggests an unknown fauna existed in a state known more for its Cretaceous meat-eaters.  The skull of this sauropod had two unexplained holes similar to those found in a couple of African dinosaurs.Carnivore:  A “wrinkle-faced” abelisaurid dinosaur was found in northern Africa.  This kind of carnivorous dinosaur was previously unknown on the African continent.  Its presence calls into question earlier ideas about the timing of Africa’s presumed split from the supercontinent of Gondwana.  The discoverers feel it moves the event forward from around 120 million years ago to a shorter interval between 95 to 100 million years ago.Pterosaur:  A perfectly-preserved embryo of a pterosaur was found in China inside its fossilized egg, reported Nature Science Update.  It was apparently just about to hatch when something terrible happened.  The fossil, found in the Jehol Biota in Liaoning, China where many other detailed fossils have been discovered (see 02/21/2003 headline), confirms that pterosaurs laid eggs rather than giving birth to live young.  The discoverers, who published their find in Nature1, stated that “Preservation of such delicate tissues with the skeleton and eggshell probably indicates that the embryo was killed and deposited quickly as a result of a natural disaster, such as a volcanic eruption.”last_img read more

CES 2011: The Best New Android Devices

first_imgWith Honeycomb, Google has introduced a number of features designed just for slates, including new 3D homescreen customizations, new richer and interactive widgets, video chat via Google Talk, access to Google eBooks, tabbed Web browsing, bookmark syncing and private browsing capabilities and improved multi-tasking.Although the Xoom has not officially launched, it was name “Best in Show” by CNET and picked as the best, or among the best, tablets by Gizmodo, LaptopMag, PopSci, PCMag, BGR, Popular Mechanics, Techradar, Engadget and others. It’s pretty safe to say that this tablet won CES. Role of Mobile App Analytics In-App Engagement What it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … At last week’s annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011) in Las Vegas, if there was any obvious industry trend, it was this: Android is everywhere. From smartphones to tablets and even TVs, the mobile operating system was present in a number of the devices being showcased at this gadget-filled event. But which phones and tablets are really deserving of praise? Which ones stood out as moving the bar forward? We’ll take a look at some of our favorites from the show below.1. Best New Tablet: Motorola XoomThe Motorola Xoom, an Android tablet that will run Google’s new tablet-only version of Android called “Honeycomb” already bests the current iPad in terms of technical specifications. It has not one, but two cameras – one rear and one front-facing (5-megapixel and 2-megapixel respectively), and a large 10-inch screen with a higher resolution than iPad (1280×800 compared with iPad’s 1024×768). It also has a dual-core 1 GHz processor, HD support with an HDMI-out port, Wi-Fi and 3G support from Verizon Wireless, is upgradable to 4G LTE support in the future and supports Adobe Flash. As for that last one, you may or may not see it as a plus, depending on whether you think Flash is an outdated, buggy technology that deserves no place in our untethered, mobile Web future or a still-necessary tool for viewing a large amount of Web video. However, it’s hard to not give extra points to the Motorola Atrix 4G, just for thinking out of the box. Also a Tegra 2-powered phone, this AT&T/Bell Mobility/Orange UK device offers a 4-inch display with a 960×540 resolution, 1 GB of RAM, with support for up to 48 GB of storage, and a powerful 1930 mAh battery, like the Bionic. It also has dual cameras (one VGA, one 5-megapixel), 720p video capture, HD playback and a fingerprint reader. 2. Best New Android SmartphonesThis one was a lot tougher, because picking smartphones is a much more personal choice. Do you prefer a slide-out keyboard or an onscreen one, for example? Do you like the big screens found on many Android devices or do you want something smaller, that fits in your pocket? For practical purposes, Verizon’s new Motorola Droid Bionic is a solid choice. It’s one of Verizon’s new 4G (LTE) phones, announced alongside the HTC Thunderbolt, LG Revolution and Samsung 4G. Like the others, the Droid Bionic will run Android 2.2 (Froyo), has dual cameras (one front-facing VGA, 8-megapixel on rear), and a large capacitive touchscreen. But the Bionic’s 4.3-inch screen is a bit better: offering a 540×960 resolution, its CPU is a speedy 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, it has 512 MB of RAM, it lets you do Skype video chatting and has something called “mirror mode” which allows you to simultaneously stream video to the TV and on the device itself. Related Posts Why IoT Apps are Eating Device Interfacescenter_img What makes this device so unique, though, is its ability to run in “Webtop” mode where it connects via an HDMI cable to a 2.4-pound laptop computer that offers an 11.6-inch screen, trackpad, and real hardware keyboard. It’s a phone that’s also a notebook PC! Once attached, you can use your phone from your “computer” (really, it’s just a shell) to run apps (in a window), play games, make calls, send instant messages, surf the Web in a full-sized version of the Firefox browser and as a bonus, your phone will charge while plugged in. Alternately, you can plug your phone into the HD Multimedia Dock, which offers 3 USB ports and an HDMI port, which lets you use the Atrix connect to an HDTV, for example, or connect to a keyboard, mouse, speakers and HDMI-compatible monitor at your desk.3. Android TVForget Google TV, try Android TV! OK, maybe not. It’s far too early to call this the “best of CES” (oops, headline edit?), but it’s definitely interesting. While not ready for primetime, the 32-inch RCA RLC3291 TV runs a skinned version of Android (2.2), including a few apps like a weather widget and Picasa for now, though app icons for Facebook and YouTube were present as well. The TV supports Flash and offers remote-friendly navigation, too.Although still in development, RCA was telling press the TV would launch in April 2011. We’ll reserve judgement until then.
