Dixie State Men’s Basketball Receives NCAA Division II Tournament Bid

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailCANYON, Texas-Sunday evening, Dixie State men’s basketball received its ninth all-time NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in the program’s 14th season of four-year competition during the selection show Sunday evening.The Trailblazers received a No. 3 seed in the NCAA South Central region. Head coach Jon Judkins’ squad will play fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado School of Mines as the Orediggers are the No. 6 seed, Saturday at Canyon, Texas. This region will be hosted by No. 1 seed West Texas A&M.The Buffaloes are the champions of the Lone Star Conference tournament.Dixie State is No. 23 this week and their 23 wins on the season are tied for the most in the program’s history at the four-year level.Should Dixie State advance past the Orediggers, who defeated the Trailblazers 80-79 in overtime January 4, they would play in Sunday’s regional semifinals against the winner of the match-up between No. 2 St. Edward’s (Texas) and No. 7 Dallas Baptist.If Dixie State advances to the regional final at Canyon, Texas, that game would be March 17.
