Chelsea FC transfer news: 17-goal winger to sign, but star midfielder to leave?

first_img Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid) – Morata is a known target for Chelsea, but they have so far been knocked back in their attempts to sign him. The Blues have already failed with one bid for the Spanish striker, and Real Madrid are unwilling to sell unless their £62 million valuation is matched. This has not put Chelsea off however, and the Telegraph claim they are waiting to see if Morata will force a move away from the Bernabeu before submitting another bid. Andre Ayew (Swansea City) – Ayew impressed in his debut season in England, scoring 12 goals in a Swansea team who struggled for much of the campaign. This eye for goal has interested Conte, who is keen to add another attacking threat to his team to complement Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi. The Sun claim Conte does not want to spend big on a new forward, and a £12 million move is said to be in the works. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City) – Click the right arrow above to find out all the latest Arsenal transfer news… – Mahrez was a key figure in the Foxes’ incredible Premier League success last season, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists on the way to winning the title. However, following Kante’s departure, the 25-year-old winger reportedly wants to leave the KP Stadium as well. The Express claim he has turned down a new contract, with the Blues lining up a transfer in the coming days. 6 Nemanja Matic – One player who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer is Serbian midfielder Matic, a player key to Premier League success in 2014/15. He struggled last term, and with the arrival of Kante it is likely he has been pushed down the pecking order. ESPN claim Serie A champions Juventus are tracking Matic, with Conte deeming the 27-year-old surplus to requirements this season. Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli) – Chelsea have already made an offer for Senegalese centre-back Koulibaly, but have yet to agree a fee with Napoli. Everton are rivalling the Blues for his signature, although the Telegraph claim the 25-year-old favours a move to Stamford Bridge, and is hoping a deal can be agreed between Chelsea and his current club. Rated as one of the best defenders in Serie A, he would bring increased security to a team who leaked goals last season. 6 6 6 6 Juan Cuadrado – Cuadrado’s career at Chelsea has been less than stellar since signing for the Blues in January 2015, starting only four games under Jose Mourinho before being loaned to Juventus last summer. He excelled back in Italy, registering five goals and eight assists, and Conte has confirmed he will be back at Stamford Bridge next season. The Italian is known to be a big fan of the winger, and speaking after the friendly loss to Rapid Vienna, he announced Cuadrado will be part of his squad for the coming campaign. 6 Chelsea’s summer transfer activity burst into life on Saturday afternoon, with the arrival of N’Golo Kante from Leicester City confirmed.Michy Batshuayi was signed earlier in July, but bringing in Kante is proof that the Blues are going all out to win the Premier League this season under head coach Antonio Conte. But the business is not finished in West London, with many more players linked to join before the start of the 2016/17 season.A new defender is high on Conte’s wishlist, although it is clear another wide forward is likely to be heading to Stamford Bridge as well. So, what is the latest news? What’s next for the Raiders without captain Bruce Irvin?

first_imgALAMEDA — When the Raiders drafted Arden Key in the third round in April, he thought he’d spend the early stages of his career learning from Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin.Instead, he never shared a field with Mack and now Irvin is gone eight games into Key’s NFL career. The rookie edge rusher out of LSU has gone from No. 3 to No. 1 only halfway through the season after Mack’s trade to the Bears and Irvin’s recent release, and the Raiders need Key and others to step up if their pass rush hopes to …last_img read more

Apple Fires Maps Manager Richard Williamson

first_imgWhat it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … The Rise and Rise of Mobile Payment Technology Bloomberg broke the news Tuesday that Richard Williamson, who oversaw the Maps team at Apple, has been fired by Senior Vice President Eddy Cue. Cue took over this responsibility last month after Scott Forstall, who oversaw all of iOS, was fired. With the launch of iOS 6 this year, Apple replaced Google Maps with its own mapping application with data provided by TomTom. Though the application’s interface was greatly improved, the data are terrible in some places, especially outside the U.S., showing incorrect city names, bizarrely deformed roads and bridges, and just plain missing information. The weakness of Apple Maps marred the launch of iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, at least in public perception, if not in actual sales. Bloomberg reports that Cue is seeking advice from outside experts and trying to push TomTom to improve the data it provides to Apple’s service. These growing pains are all part of Apple’s effort to make its services independent of Google – seemingly at all costs. Apple has scrapped iOS’s built-in YouTube app. It delicately works around Google to use Yelp for place searches, and Siri falls back on Google only as a last resort.Maps are the most significant example of Apple’s determination to drive Google off the iOS home screen, but the first attempt was not good enough for the guy responsible to keep his job. While Apple regroups around Maps, Google is reportedly readying a standalone Maps app for iOS. Here’s hoping that going forward, the main consideration for both companies is the quality of the customers’ experience. first_imgAdvertisement Gillian Genser’s sculpture of Adam, the first man, created out of the mussel shells that poisoned her for years. GILLIAN GENSER Facebook Advertisement “I was flabbergasted,” Genser, 59, told The Washington Post. “Absolutely flabbergasted.”For 15 years, Genser had been grinding up mussel shells to create a sculpture of Adam, the first man. She had no idea, though, that mussels can accumulate toxins, like lead and arsenic, over years of feeding in polluted waters. When Genser breathed in the shell dust or touched the powdery remains, some of that metal made its way into her body, too.For Genser, who first wrote about her case in Toronto Life magazine on Nov. 28, the poisoning is deeply ironic. By using a natural material, like mussel shells, to depict a biblical character, she wanted to comment on humanity’s skewed relationship with the now-contaminated natural world. Twittercenter_img LEAVE A REPLY Cancel replyLog in to leave a comment At first, Gillian Genser thought the headaches and vomiting were just the latest signs of autoimmune disorders she had battled for years. But then the symptoms got stranger. She felt agitated. She’d wake up nearly unable to move. Hearing vanished from one ear. Her muscles cramped and her speech slurred. What was going on? For years, doctors were baffled by what was afflicting the Toronto-based sculptor. Then, a blood test three years ago came back positive for heavy-metal poisoning. And Genser realized her art was killing her. Login/Register With: Advertisementlast_img read more
